St Gerard’s Novena ends today and had a guest of honour in the form of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division title.

Fr Michael Cusack brought the trophy, which Dundalk retained by drawing away to Shamrock Rovers a week ago, to the first Mass this morning and it will remain at the Novena throughout the day.

Dundalk take on Galway Utd at Oriel Park at 7.45pm tonight but won’t receive the trophy for another fortnight after the end of season match at home to Bray Wanderers.

All week Lilywhites supporters have been celebrating the victory in Tallaght and one avid fan put together a hilarious video of a sing song from McGuinness’ Pub in Anne Street over a video from the Novena.

The brief clip suggests that the whole congregation in St Joseph’s Redemptorist Church are singing along.

Dundalk band T.P.M. release video for viral hit ‘All the Boys on the Dole’

Dundalk band T.P.M., who went viral back in August with their performance of ‘All The Boys on the Dole’ in Drogheda have released the track today.

The group, Charles and Andrew Hendy, will have limited copies of the CD on sale in Classified Records in the Demesne Shopping Centre, which features in the video.

T.P.M. said: “All the Boys on the Dole’ was written in a slump of depression, sitting in a broken car with no money, nowhere to go and no end in sight. It is a response to the idea that if you are in our situation you are worthless. You are NOT worthless.”

The video was recorded in Dundalk with the likes of the Courthouse, Market Square, Earl Street, Park Street, The Ramparts, Tesco Extra and other local venues clearly visible.

Credit to local Dundalk supporter Ruairí Murphy, son of club historian Jim, who came up with this hilarious picture in the build-up to tomorrow’s clash between the Lilywhites and Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght Stadium.

With Stephen Kenny’s side having a chance to win the league on the night with a victory, Ruairí brilliantly captures the Dundalk manager at the head of a Luas on the way to Tallaght with players Richie Towell, Stephen O’Donnell and Andy Boyle on board, as well as local celebrities Freddy Fyffes, Maxi and David Keenan.

Looking on glumly are Rovers boss Pat Fenlon and Cork City manager John Caulfield, whose side Dundalk will meet in the FAI Cup final in the Aviva Stadium next month.

Tomorrow’s game against Shamrock Rovers is live on RTÉ Two at 7.45pm.

Pat’s winning banter battle ahead of County Final

Screen Shot 2015-09-29 at 14.38.41

This Sunday’s County Final between St Patrick’s GFC and the Sean O’Mahony’s promises to be a memorable affair.

St Pat’s are hoping to retain the title for a third consecutive season while the Point Road men are in their first ever senior final after Louth and Leinster Intermediate Championship success last year.

It promises to be a closely fought affair but off the field at least St Pat’s would seem to have the upper hand from now.

Someone from the Lordship club boarded Sean O’Mahony’s clubman Pat O’Brien’s boat ‘Sea Ranger’ overnight and placed the club’s green and white colours on it. The Pearse Park man is well known as a Co Board delegate and has two sons on the O’Mahony’s team.

The O’Mahony’s seen the funny side of it when posting about it on Twitter earlier today but don’t be surprised to see some form of response in the build-up to Sunday’s clash in Drogheda.

A Lidl bit of a fib

Lidl’s recent TV advert was partially filmed in the picturesque setting of Carlingford in north Louth.

Focusing on the importance of being local, the actor in the clip says he now has a local Lidl.

Of course, locals will know this is not true as there is no Lidl in Carlingford, or any major supermarket retailer for that matter. The nearest Lidl is actually some 20 minutes-plus drive away at St Helena’s Terrace in Dundalk.

Still, it’s good to see Carlingford being picked out for filming.

Lisa’s granny is back!

Dundalk man’s hilarious bungee jump video goes viral

A video of a Dundalk man taking a bungee jump in Latvia has gone viral.

The clip of Anthony McLoughlin overcoming his fear in Sigulda is quite funny.

He wore a Go-Pro camera to document it and it’s hilarious to see him go from absolute fear to sheer exhilaration in a matter of seconds.
