A registration evening for this year’s Miss Louth contest will take place tonight from 7pm to 8pm in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Last year Hackballscross woman Fionnuala Short scooped the coveted title and went on to finish runner-up in the Miss Ireland contest.

The teenager has since gone on to secure a modelling contract and regularly appears on the likes of TV3’s Xpose.

Local woman Fionnuala Short has been earmarked as “Ireland’s next top model” in an article in today’s Irish Independent.

The 18-year-old from Hackballscross has been making waves on the modeling scene in recent months.

After being named Miss Louth earlier this year and finishing as a runner-up in the Miss Ireland contest, she was quickly snapped up by the Andrea Roche Modeling Agency.

Since then she has been travelling on an almost daily basis to Dublin to model for various designers and she is becoming a frequent face on TV3’s Xpose show and Ireland AM.

Indeed, Fionnuala is in such great demand that she is planning a move to Dublin shortly.

“Since Miss Ireland and I signed with Andrea Roche, I’ve been so busy,” she told Independent Style.

“I’m still living in Louth at the minute, but I’m hoping to move really soon. I’m moving in with my friend Jessica (Hayes), the current Miss Ireland.

“I either get the bus or my mom drops me down. It will be so much better when I move to Dublin.”

The demand for Fionnuala has been such that she has put her studies on hold for a year to give things a go full-time and she is quickly catching the eye.
