As the build-up continues to Friday night’s title decider between Dundalk and Cork City at Oriel Park, it would be understandable if fans from both sides were getting a little nervous.

One local fan, Mark ‘Maxi’ McAllister, has little doubt that Stephen Kenny’s side will finish the job by beating the Rebels though after getting ‘League Champions 2014’ tattooed onto his arm.

Maxi posted the picture on his Facebook page yesterday after getting it done by Fergus Cullen of Cuchulainn Tattoos and vowed to get the words ‘Cork City’ added to the tattoo if his side fail to win on Friday.

“Dundalk can’t lose or draw on Friday, we all believe that here,” Fergus told The Irish Examiner.

“I approached him on the street this morning and said I’d do it free of charge and he said,   ‘come on let’s do it’. It was done in 12 minutes,” he added.

The new tattoo is below an existing one of the club’s crest and a remembrance of Lilywhites legend Tommy McConville.

Maxi will no doubt be hoping McConville will act as a guardian angel for the side on Friday, with the one year anniversary of his passing the next day.

A video of the procedure can be seen here.

Maxi reacts to Dundalk’s win over Athlone

Well-known Dundalk FC supporter Mark ‘Maxi’ Kavanagh has posted a video on YouTube giving his reaction to Dundalk’s 1-0 win over Athlone Town yesterday evening.

The Lilywhite fanatic said in the clip, which has gone viral in League of Ireland circles, that he never doubted that Richie Towell would come good for his side at the end and pokes fun at those who doubted the team. Check it out for yourself above.

Maxi-mum delight!

A lot of Dundalk fans left The Showgrounds last night delighted at their side’s 1-0 win over Sligo Rovers.

Few would have had as big a smile on his face though as Mark ‘Maxi’ McAllister.

The well-known Lilywhites supporter had a €2 bet at 250/1 that Dane Massey would be the first goalscorer and Dundalk would beat the reigning Airtricity League champions 1-0. As luck would have it, that’s exactly what happened and so Maxi was celebrating not only a famous win for his beloved club but also a handy €500 in his back pocket.

Well done Maxi, well done.
