I’m sure everyone has heard by now that David Beckham has announced his retirement from football and, as a result, many are reminiscing about their best memories of the former Manchester Utd, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy and Paris St Germain player.

This picture has emerged over on Dundalk Northend and Friends of a young David Beckham, posing with former local publican Dessie Corbett and his son Ciaran.

In his days running Corbetts in Seatown – now The Castle Bar – Dessie made the pub one of the most popular places in town to watch United games.

For the week that’s in it

It’s been quite a week for football what with Rafa Benitez getting his hands on another trophy last night and David Beckham retiring from football today. Another legend will also retire at the weekend when Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher calls it a day as well.

With that in mind, we’ve pulled out the above video (which conveniently features all three, along with Steven Gerrard) of local impressionist Adam Coburn. This clip, recorded with Michael Duffy on Dundalk FM, is almost a year old at this stage but is still worth a look!
