A local student has launched an online campaign to raise €1.67m to build a real life version of a house from his favourite video campaign.
Dubliner Paul Boyle, who studies Computer Engineering in Dundalk IT, wants to replicate ‘Michael Di Santo’s house’ from popular video game Grand Theft Auto Five and has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds needed.
If successful, Paul said he would build the luxurious pad in Carlingford.
He told The Irish Daily Mirror: “I’m looking to raise enough money to plan and construct the famous known house in GTA5.
“I want to include the interior and exterior of the property as it is projected in the video game. I have chosen the location of Carlingford, County Louth.
“I think any gamer who has spent many nights in this magnificent property would love to see a full scale copy constructed in real life.”
He insisted that he has contacted “several companies and professionals in the field of construction and design” to ensure this structure is feasible.
He said: “It is indeed possible to construct, given the right conditions of the surroundings and the availability of funds to carry out construction.”
Those who pledge €4 will get pictures and videos of the completed house while generous donors who give over €900 will get to stay at the house for three nights.
The student has a long way to go before he can lay the foundation stone. Just €30 has been donated so far from seven different backers, while it is likely that such a house would have difficulty getting planning permission in an area such as Carlingford.
You can donate to Paul’s cause here while a video of what the house would look like is below…
