Dundalk Lifeboat Day to take place tomorrow

Clogherhead RNLI carry out their weekly manoeuvres in the Irish

This Saturday has been designated lifeboat day at the Quay in Dundalk.

Weather permitting, the Clogherhead Lifeboat and its crew will be in attendance from 1pm to 2.30pm with shanty singing and ring throwing competitions also taking place on the day.

On Friday night, meanwhile, there will be a shanty night in the Clermont Arms in Blackrock from 8pm in aid of the RNLI.

Registration open for Blackrock AC four mile road race

The Blackrock AC four mile road race will take place on Saturday week, September 26th.

The event will get underway on the evening from 6.30pm and will be in memory of the late Stephen Carroll, who passed away in November 2013.

Registration is €20 online and all support for the event is welcomed.

A pre-registration evening will also take place from 6.30pm to 8pm tonight in the Blackrock Community Centre and from 6pm to 7pm tomorrow.

There will also be registration on Friday 25th September from 6.30pm to 8pm in the Community Centre once more and on the day outside the Clermont Arms on Main Street from 4.30pm.

All proceeds from the race will go towards the North Louth Hospice and Blackrock AC.

Gerry said: “What was the special in the Clermont Arms this evening? This brilliant pic was captured today during the floods along Main Street, Blackrock.

“We hope the 2 lads landed something after all their hard efforts!

“We sincerely hope that the businesses along the sea front didn’t suffer too much damage…”
