The finalists have been announced for next month’s Louth Business Awards 2015.

The annual gala dinner and awards will take place in the Carrickdale Hotel on Saturday November 14th.

This year’s awards attracted a record number of entries across the 15 categories.

Last year’s event was a sell out, with great demand expected again this year. The cost of the night is €50 per person plus VAT, which includes a champagne reception, five course meal with wine and dancing until late with music from Sugartown Road.

There will also be a competition for Best Dressed Gent, sponsored by Tony McDonnell Menswear in Earl Street and Best Dressed Lady, sponsored by Mizu, Dundalk and Carlingford.

Mike Denver to perform in the Carrickdale this November

Country star Mike Denver will be performing in the Carrickdale Hotel in Dundalk on Wednesday November 4th.

Tickets are on sale now from the hotel with an overnight package, priced at €65 per person sharing also available that includes bed and breakfast and a ticket to the show.

Jim Divine will also be performing at the Carrickarnon-based hotel on Friday October 2nd with tickets also available now.

Susan McCann and Friends will be performing this Friday night in the Carrickdale Hotel.

Tickets, priced €12.50 are available from the hotel reception, with overnight packages also available.

Susan will round off a night that will also feature a number of local artists performing beforehand as well as Scór performances in dance and recitation, including Kieran Larkin’s infamous ‘doing the double’.

One of the highlights of the night will be the performance of new country sensation Kerry Fearon, who has recently returned from supporting Dominic Kirwan and Mary Duff in Belfast. There will also be traditional music and dancing on the night.

Doors open on the night at 8.30pm, with the show starting at 8.45pm.

Servisource Recruitment to host pre-Championship discussion panel in Dundalk next month

Dundalk company Servisource Recruitment will host a GAA Pre-Championship Panel Discussion in the Carrickdale Hotel on Friday May 15th.

The event, which is being run in aid of the Alan Kerins Projects, will feature a number of guest speakers, including Conor McManus (Monaghan), Steven McDonnell (Armagh), Billy-Joe Padden (Mayo), Rory’s Stories and MC Benny Tierney.

The event runs from 1pm to 3pm on the day with tickets priced €12 (£10), including lunch.

Accommodation Services Award for the Carrickdale Hotel

There were celebrations at the Carrickdale Hotel this week after the hotel picked up a gold medal at the Accommodation Services Awards.

The award was presented to Accommodation Manager Philomena Walsh and her team in recognition for achieving excellence in accommodation standards.

35,000 litres of fuel laundering waste dumped close to border

A trailer with an estimated 35,000 litres of oil laundering waste has been found abandoned close to the border.

The trailer carrying the toxic sludge was discovered this morning on the N1 dual carriageway at Junction 20 Jonesborough/Carrickarnon, close to the Carrickdale Hotel.

Louth County Council’s contractor hopes to have the trailer and its contents removed by this afternoon.

This is one of a number of similar discoveries at this location in recent months with those responsible for fuel laundering dumping the waste at expense to the taxpayer.

County Louth Camogie Association to host cookery demonstration in Dundalk with Neven Maguire

The County Louth Camogie Association will present a cookery demonstration with Neven Maguire in the Carrickdale Hotel on Wednesday May 6th at 7pm.

County champions St Patrick’s have been paired with Mattock Rangers and the O Raghallaigh’s in the group stages of this year’s Carrickdale Hotel Senior Football Championship.

The Lordship men were drawn in Group 4 following last night’s draw in Darver and will face a stiff test from the outset against a Mattock side who won back-to-back titles as recently as 2010 an an ever-improving O Raghallaigh’s side.

Elsewhere, last year’s beaten finalists the Dreadnots were drawn in Group 1 alongside St Mary’s and Naomh Mairtin while intermediate champions the Sean O’Mahony’s have been drawn in Group 2 alongside the O’Connells and Cooley Kickhmas.

Meanwhile, there will be a local derby in Group 3 where both Dundalk Gaels and the Geraldines have been paired alongside 2013 champions the Newtown Blues.

Meanwhile, in the CTI Business Solutions Intermediate Championship last year’s beaten finalists St Fechin’s have been drawn in Group 4 alongside Na Piarsaigh and St Mochta’s.

In Group 1 last season’s relegated outfit Kilkerley Emmets have been paired with fellow former senior heavyweights Clan na Gael and Glyde Rangers while in Group 2 are Naomh Malachi, Hunterstown Rovers and St Joseph’s. Dundalk Young Irelands are in Group 3 with St Brides and junior champions Oliver Plunketts.

In the Junior Championship, Roche Emmets will be hoping to bounce back to the intermediate grade straight away but face a tough pairing in Group 1 alongside Naomh Fionnbarra and the Sean McDermotts.

In Group 2 are the county’s newest club Cuchulainn Gaels, the John Mitchels and St Nicholas while Group 3 contain sides who all either won the Christy Bellew Cup or came close to it on numerous occasions in the Noughties – St Kevin’s, Dowdallshill and the Westerns.

Finally, Group 4 is made up of Lannleire, the Wolfe Tones, Glen Emmets and Stabannon Parnells.

For all three grades the winners and runners up of Group 1 will face the winners and runners up of Group 3 with the winners and runners-up of Groups 2 and 4 doing likewise.

In the Senior Hurling Championship, holders Knockbridge have a bye with Mattock Rangers facing Pearse Og and St Fechin’s playing Naomh Moninne.

Model display show in Dundalk this Sunday

A model display show will take place in the Carrickdale Hotel this Sunday.

The event runs from 11am to 5pm with admission €5 for adults and €3 for kids under 16. A family pass (2 adults and up to four children) is also available for €20.

Machinery will also be on view on the day from Armstrong Farm Machinery and Hanlon’s.

Tommy Fleming set for the Carrickdale Hotel

Popular singer Tommy Fleming will be performing in the Carrickdale Hotel on Friday April 24th.

The concert had originally been earmarked for The Fairways Hotel but was moved to the Carrickdale, with tickets for the old venue still valid.
