Worklink to host jobseekers’ workshop next week

Worklink are kicking off their autumn season of events with a workshop run jointly with eDundalk.com next Thursday September 25th

The workshop is open to all but Worklink are particularly hopeful that young jobseekers and those from ethnic minorities will attend.

The workshop is free and is on Thursday from 7pm to 9pm in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

All are welcome to attend.

Worklink to host interview skills clinic in the Crowne Plaza Hotel

worklinkWorklink’s recent “Impressive Interview Skills” workshop was a great success, and they are running a follow-up session which will include a chance to practice your interview skills.

The Interview Skills Clinic will take place in the Crowne Plaza hotel from 7pm until 9pm on Tuesday May 27th. The clinic is open to newcomers as well as to those who attended the previous workshop. Places are free to unemployed job-seekers: to book a place email ceinwen@worklink.ie or ring 087 7988008.

The recent “Impressive Interview Skills” Workshop was run by Eugene Grant, an experienced HR professional. Participants rated the event very highly and found that they gained helpful information and support from Worklink’s volunteers. The workshop covered preparing for interviews, dealing with questions, and presenting yourself in the best way.

Ceinwen Fergus, Worklink’s North East Regional Coordinator said “The workshop was very well received by participants, and the interview clinic will give people a chance to prepare answers and practice their skills.”

Worklink is a volunteer organisation offering free information and support to unemployed jobseekers: the active local group has run several successful jobseeker and employer events over the last 18 months.

Worklink would like to thank volunteers Richard Hanlon, Michael Gaynor and Padraig McGovern who also gave up their free time to ensure the success of the interview workshop.

worklinkDo you want to improve your job interview skills and learn how to present yourself? Worklink are running “Impressive Interview Skills”, a free interview workshop on Wednesday 30th April from 7pm until 9pm in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dundalk.

The workshop will cover interview preparation, preparing for commonly-asked questions and give tips on how to present yourself.

“Impressive Interview Skills” will be delivered by Worklink’s volunteers, who are experienced professionals in the fields of Human Resources and career coaching. Places are limited to unemployed jobseekers and booking is essential.

Worklink is a volunteer-led organisation which aims to help unemployed job-seekers access employment. The local group plan to run a number of events this year, including CV and interview clinics, and the Worklink WorkOut, a six-week programme aimed at getting job-seekers “interview-fit”.

If you want help with your CV you can book a half-hour one-to-one slot with one of Worklink’s volunteers.

Worklink hosting CV events for jobseekers in March

worklinkWorklink are running two local events in March to help unemployed jobseekers brush up their CVs.

The first event is a CV Workshop “Make your CV work for you” on Tuesday 4thMarch from 11am to 1pm in O’Fiaich College. This workshop is intended for people who want guidance on how to write a CV and what to include in it. The session will include tips and suggestions on how to make a good first impression on a prospective employer. It will also include information on producing an effective cover letter. Worklink volunteers will be there to answer questions and give guidance on what employers look for in job candidates.

The second event is a CV Clinic on Tuesday 11th March from 10am to 1pm in O‘Fiaich College. The CV clinic is intended for people who have written a CV but want help with a particular issue. Participants can book a one-to-one half hour clinic appointment with a Worklink volunteer.

Clients can book a place for either one or for both events. Please note, for the CV Clinic they will need to book a half-hour one-to-one appointment.

Worklink to host jobsearch event in Dundalk

logoWorklink’s first event of 2014 will take place in O Fiaich College from 11am until 1pm on Tuesday 28th January.

“Staying Motivated in your Jobsearch” aims to boost your confidence and increase your motivation. The session is free and is open to unemployed jobseekers. 

It will cover resilience, bouncing back, and dealing with setbacks. It will be run by Liz Barron, a career coach with experience in supporting people through career changes. The session is aimed at jobseekers who want to keep up their motivation and get a bit of a kickstart for the new year.

Worklink launch Workout programme for unemployed job seekers

worklinkWorklink have designed a six week “Workout” programme for unemployed jobseekers which aims to help jobseekers break the unemployment cycle and get back to work.

Workout involves six weekly 90 minute modules which will bring participants right through the job-search process from designing a CV to landing the job. Using a series of practical exercises and discussion, participants will gain new insights and ideas to apply to their work search, get a new perspective on options open to them, implement a pro-active work search plan and become interview ready.

A key component of this programme is that participants support each other and sign up to completing all six modules, in order to achieve the maximum benefit of the content.

Workout starts off with an introductory session on Tuesday 15th October at O Fiaich College in Dundalk at 7pm and continues weekly in O Fiaich for six more Tuesdays from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Places are strictly limited to unemployed jobseekers and admission is free. Priority will be given to those who can attend all six weeks.

Worklink, is a not-for-profit employment support group which is led by professional volunteers and has been formed to assist the unemployed successfully transition into full employment.
