The windmill in Seatown is one of the least appreciated sights in the town but local digital photographer Paul Connolly certainly captures it well in this shot.
The picture shows the sun setting over it, as seen from Quay Street.
Perfection!
The Old Dundalk Society will host a walking tour of Seatown on Thursday August 28th.
Archaeologist Paul Gosling, a native of Dundalk who now lectures in Built Heritage at the Department of Heritage and Tourism at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, will lead the walk through one of the oldest parts of town.
The tour will commence from the Green Church at 5pm and will take around two hours.
It will deal with street names, street alignments and layouts and the role of prominent buildings such as the windmill, Seatown Castle, Quay Street railway station and St Leonard’s Garden.
The windmill at Dundalk IT is widely regarded as the highest point in the town but the college have just shared a new picture from above it.
This picture was taken with a drone camera operated by Liutas Picture for the Centre for Renewable Energy.
One of the two workers, who clearly have a head for heights, even found time to wave to the camera as it passed.
