Louth TD Gerry Adams has expressed his “shock and sadness” at news of the death of an employee of Finlay’s Coffin and Casket Services in Ardee.
The body of a 30-year-old man was recovered following a major fire at the Tierney Street business on Monday evening.
Gardaí have named the victim as Ramunas Sinica, a Lithuanian national, who lived on William Street in Ardee.
Deputy Adams expressed his sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased and to the staff of Finlay’s.
He said: “This is a tragedy for the family and friends of the man who has lost his life.
“It is also a blow to the owners and other employees of Finlay’s.
“Every effort should be made to assist Finlay’s to repair the damage and secure its future.”
