Big Top Carlingford teaser video released

A teaser video for the Big Top Carlingford has just been released.

The Big Top Carlingford is a seasonal, outdoor venue that will be launched this year by Carlingford Marina.

It is a 500 person capacity circus tent that sits in the courtyard of the marina complex and will be home to a whole host of concerts and events throughout the summer months.

The introduction of an outdoor venue for large concerts will be a welcome addition to the area’s already festive atmosphere.

Earlier this week we reported how The Spirit Store was going pink to mark the arrival of the Giro d’Italia in Dundalk next month.

The work on the popular George’s Quay music venue is now complete with a cycling mural painted on the side of the building by Barry Finnegan of Thinking Cap Murals.

Check out the finished product in our pictures above and below or call down to the Store yourself to see it in the flesh.

The Spirit Store in George’s Quay is gearing up for next month’s Giro d’Italia by going pink in preparation for the race’s visit to Dundalk on Sunday May 11th.

The popular pub and music venue, which is owned by local politician Mark Dearey, painted the premises pink earlier this week.

They have also had their logo updated in anticipation of the race.

Well done to all concerned.

Meanwhile, Dundalk Town Council, in partnership with Fáilte Ireland, will host a Giro d’Italia information event in An Táin Theatre at the Town Hall on Tuesday April 8th at 6.30pm.

Guest speakers include representatives from Fáilte Ireland and Shade Tree Sports, who are event promoters for the Irish stage.

Come along if you would like to know more about this opportunity and how Dundalk can benefit from it, or if you have any ideas or suggestions in relation to the event.

All are welcome to attend.

The Spirit Store seek album covers from local artists

The Spirit Store is looking to pay tribute to local music by encouraging local artists to send them on their album covers from over the years to be immortalised on the walls of the George’s Quay venue.

It is hoped to use the album covers as decoration for the walls of the venue, as manager Alan Anderson explained on the Spirit Store’s Facebook page.

He said: “We here at the Spirit Store would like to acknowledge the good work of local musicians over the years by printing record sleeve-sized prints of album covers from the local scene for the venue walls.

“If you have a decent quality picture of your cd/record cover send it to alanspiritstore@gmail.com or post a link.

“No postage stamp pixely pics and full albums only please, there’s not enough wall space for all the EPs that have been released over the years.”

So what are you waiting for send in your album covers now for a chance to be immortalised in one of the country’s top music venues.
