Then/Now Dundalk calendar to be released next week

Local photographer Mark Quigley has certainly caught the eye throughout the year with his Then/Now Project, which combines current images of some of Dundalk’s landmark areas with pictures from the past.

Amongst the areas covered by Mark includes the Market Square, Anne Street, Roden Place, the Castletown Road, the Castle Road and many more.

Now he has put together calendars featuring some of the best images. You can purchase the calendars, priced €10, from next Wednesday, with further details available from here.

Then and now on Jocelyn Street and Roden Place

Mark Quigley has been busy working on his Then/Now project for the past few months and here’s another stunning shot of Jocelyn Street and Roden Place.

The picture shows the iconic Kelly’s Monument in front of St Patrick’s Cathedral, albeit without the current day parking meters, bus lanes or parking spaces.

A different kind of taxi rank

Mark Quigley has been busy working on his Then/Now project for the past few months and here’s another stunning shot of Crowe Street, as captured from the Market Square.

In it he shows the street in its current format with the hoardings around the Queen’s Hotel building but there’s also old-style cars parked at what is now the taxi rank, showing how things once were outside the Courthouse and Town Hall.

In it he encapsulates some of the well knwon premises on the street such as Tony Kieran’s, Conlon’s Delicatessan and Youngs Restaurant and contrasts them with the cars and bikes of yesteryear.

Crosson’s Garage

Mark Quigley has been busy working on his Then/Now project for the past few weeks and months and here’s another stunning shot of the old Jet Filling Station/Crosson’s Opel Garage on the Dublin Road.

This was a popular dealership for many years but now lies largely idle, with various planning applications for the site rejected over the years due to its location on a bend on the busy road.

Mark Quigley has been busy working on his Then/Now project for the past few weeks and months and here’s another stunning shot from Blackrock beach – a location that is sure to be getting a lot of attention at present during the hot weather.

In the shot, Mark captures the current facade of Main Street, coupled with an old shot of the water with a boat coming in to shore.
