Given that the Irish population across the Globe will be celebrating St Patrick’s Day, a pre-order facility is available for the titles so you don’t need to be sitting by your computer or iPad on March 17th.

Clive Friary of Dundalk based iCreate.ie said he hopes people take the chance to download the quality books which will bring them a bit closer to home on St Patrick’s Day.

“Today most Irish people living abroad have made their computer or iPad their main means of communicating with home, be it via Facebook, Twitter or Skype. But being able to download Tempest’s Dundalk At Work Collection brings them to times now long past while  reading  ‘The Gathering – Reflections on Ireland’ allows them to read about our current heroes such as Katie Taylor and Brian O’Driscoll as well as reading the words of Seamus Heaney was loved by Irish people across the world.

“We’ve made a provision for readers who will of course be out drowning the shamrock or marching in their parades because we want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to download these titles at the promotional price.”

Tempest’s Memories Dundalk at Work Collection will make history as thanks to a joint collaboration between iCreate Digital Media and Dundalgan Press, the four titles are now being made available as iBooks.

The Dundalk at Work books – ‘The Shoe Industry’, ‘The Tobacco Industry’ and ‘The Engineering Industry’ along with ‘Dundalk Caught on Camera’ can now be downloaded in 51 countries across the globe.

The project marks a major move for Dundalgan Press as it is the first time the company, with over 150 years history in the publishing industry, has embraced the new technology which will open it up to a worldwide customer base.

Henry McDowell of the Tempest family, along with Clive Friary of iCreate will officially launch the iBooks this Wednesday, November 6th, at a special event being held in the Creative Spark building, Dundalk.

The collection which was published over the past number of years on limited edition print runs, were snapped up quickly with only a limited few still available. Many of the books were sent to Dundalk people throughout the world.

iCreate’s Founder and Managing Director Clive Friary spoke of the process involved in bringing the four books to their new online status.

“The ‘Dundalk at Work’ books and ‘Dundalk Caught on Camera’ are amazing books and they are fabulous in their traditional form but an amazing market has opened up in iBooks and iCreate along with Dundalgan Press saw the potential in making these titles available online for the many people who did not get the opportunity to secure a book in the limited edition runs

“Thanks to iPad technology the photographs are so sharp on the iBooks and we really worked hard to make sure that the editions are of the highest quality.

“I believe we worked well with the Tempest family business in making sure that we treated the books with the respect they deserved while bringing them to their biggest audience ever.”

Speaking of the new era for Dundalgan Press, Managing Director Sandra Dowdall said: “We are so proud of the work we do in publishing with over 150 years history, but we also realise that we must move with the times and our Tempest Memories Collection becoming iBooks is a perfect example of how we can do this.

Working with Clive Friary of iCreate has been a tremendous learning curve for us all here in Dundalgan Press and now that we have gone through that process we are looking forward to future projects.”
