On Saturday 1st November at 8pm, Irish soprano Celine Byrne will make her Dundalk debut with a performance in An Táin Arts Centre.

As part of the autumn programme in the newly opened An Táin Arts Centre, Celine will be joined by pianist Dearbhla Brosnan and cellist Ailbhe McDonagh to perform Rusalka’s glorious ‘Song to the Moon’, Puccini’s ‘O Mio Babbino Caro’, ‘Villia’ from The Merry Widow, ‘The Last Rose of Summer’, ‘My Lagan Love’, ‘Danny Boy’ and ‘The Lark in the Clear Air’ to name but a few.

Irish soprano, Celine Byrne, made her operatic début as Mimi, in Scottish Opera’s 2010 production of La Bohéme and since then has performed extensively throughout Europe as well as in the US, China, Russia and Mexico. In March 2012 Celine made her Covent Garden début standing-in for Camilla Nylund as Rusalka under the baton of Yannick Nézét-Séguin. Celine also covered the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at Covent Garden. She is recently home from her return visit to the Royal Opera House where she performed Wagner’s Parsifal to great acclaim, and will return there to sing the role of Micaëla in 2015.

An Táin Arts Centre is the new independent arts space for Dundalk, based in the former Táin theatre at the Town Hall in Crowe Street.

Dundalk Musical Society to stage Fiddler on the Roof next week

Dundalk Musical Society are bringing the hit show ‘Fiddler on the Roof’’ to An Táin Arts Centre from next Wednesday October 15th to Sunday October 19th.

The show has been organised to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the show’s Broadway debut. It will take place at 8pm nightly.

The story follows father of five, Tevye as he tries to uphold tradition in an ever-changing political and social landscape. During a period of change for Russian Jews, the family learn to cope with the decline of Tsarist Russia and the tough laws enforced on the family and the village of Anatevka.

Táin Theatre to host iconic images exhibition of Dundalk drama scene

An Táin Theatre at the Town Hall will host a collection of iconic images of the Dundalk drama scene from the last century from next week.

The exhibition will launch on Friday July 25th at 7pm and all are welcome to attend.

Aladdin coming to Town Hall next week

The countdown is on to the start of Dundalk Musical Society’s production of Aladdin next week.

The show gets underway on Tuesday January 7th and runs until Sunday January 12th at 8pm nightly.

Matinees will also take place on Saturday and Sunday January 11th and 12th at 3pm.

Dundalk Theatre Workshop to stage The Winslow Boy next month

Dundalk Theatre Workshop will stage The Winslow Boy by Terence Rattigan in An Táin Theatre in Dundalk Town Hall from November 13th to 16th at 7.30pm each night.

The play, which is based on a true story, will be directed by local solicitor Fergus Mullen.

Dundalk Musical Society will be hosting Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King & I in An Táin Theatre, Town Hall, Dundalk from Wednesday October 16th to Sunday October 20th.

The show is at 8pm nightly, with the matinee on Sunday October 20th at 3pm.

Dance Kids prepare to get Ready to Rumble

Local stage school Dance Kids will host a new show called ‘Ready to Rumble’ in the Táin Theatre of the Town Hall in Dundalk on Friday June 21st and Saturday June 22nd.
