A number of former Dundalk players have been named in Liam O’Brien’s 17 man squad for the FIFPro Tournament 2014, which will take place on Thursday at the Vallhall Arena in Oslo, Norway.

The four-team tournament for out of contract players will be made up of teams from Ireland, Norway, Sweden and Finland and this is the fourth year that the tournament has been played.

The squad travelled to Oslo this afternoon having been training in the AUL since the start of December.

  • Peter Higgins (Waterford United)

Sundays are the new Fridays

Dundalk aren’t in action tonight because of Ireland’s World Cup Qualifier with Sweden but they will continue their title challenge with a crunch home tie against neighbours Drogheda United in Oriel Park on Sunday evening at 6pm.

Following St Patrick’s Athletic’s 1-0 win over Derry City during the week, Stephen Kenny’s side could find themselves five points behind going into a tie that is sure to be testing because of the local rivalry.

The Lilywhites are hoping for a bumper crowd on Sunday and the earlier kick-off time of 6pm means it is perfect for all the family.
