Bagatelle still have it after all these years

Legendary Irish band Bagatelle, fronted by Dundalk man Liam Reilly, are currently touring Ireland for the final time.

After 36 years together the group will go their final way this year after providing us with many memorable classics including ‘Second Violin’, ‘Trump Card’ and ‘The Streets of New York’.

Undoubtedly their biggest hit though is the classic ‘Summer in Dublin’ which the band performed yesterday morning on The Brendan O’Connor Show on RTÉ Radio One.

The good folk over at RTÉ managed to record the live performance and you can check it out above.

34 years ago today Bagatelle recorded Summer in Dublin

It’s hard to believe it was 34 years ago today that Bagatelle recorded their hit song ‘Summer in Dublin’.

The track, which was written and performed by Dundalk singer/songwriter Liam reilly, was recorded in Battle Studio in Hastings in Sussex, England.

It also coincided with Liam’s birthday as he turns 59 today.

Summer in Dublin was an overnight success and catapulted the band into the spotlight two years after their formation in August 1978. It would be the first of six number ones and countless top 10 hits.

A few years back it was also voted the third best Irish song of all time.
