A new Ticketmaster venue is going to be setup on Clanbrassil Street in Dundalk.

The town has been left without a Ticketmaster outlet since News & Deli in Park Street closed its doors at the start of the year.

Owner Sonja van Kelkeren did cater for fans of Garth Brooks by reopening to sell tickets for his Croke Park shows earlier this year but a more permanent solution was needed to cater for those who still like to queue for tickets to the big concerts.

That solution has now been found with Costcutter in Clanbrassil Street set to take over the running of the Ticketmaster outlet.

Now, all we need is another huge performer to announce a date!

News & Deli in Park Street has confirmed that it will reopen on Thursday morning for the sale of tickets to Garth Brooks’ fourth Croke Park concert on Monday July 28th.

The new gig was announced this morning after the 240,000 tickets to his three other shows were snapped up in record time last week.

News & Deli closed its doors at the start of last month but, as Dundalk’s only Ticketmaster outlet, it reopened to accommodate those looking for tickets to the country superstar’s comeback concerts.

Crowds camped outside the shop for tickets last week and while the demand is expected to be slightly less for his fourth concert, Sonja van Kelkeren confirmed earlier today that she would be opening at 9am on Thursday to cater for those looking for tickets.

News & Deli in Park Street will be open next Thursday morning to cater for the sale of Garth Brooks tickets.

The country music superstar will be in Dublin’s Croke Park on July 25th and 26th with demand for tickets to the gigs set to be huge.

There had been fears amongst local music fans as to where they could source tickets from for the gig following News & Deli’s closure at the start of the month. The popular local newsagents had been Dundalk’s only Ticketmaster outlet in recent years.

However, Sonja van Kelkeren of News & Deli has contacted Talk of the Town to say that they will be open for the sale of tickets on Thursday.

While many people now buy tickets online, a number of people still like to avail of the old school method of queuing for tickets with queues for One Direction tickets last year starting more than 24 hours before the tickets went on sale.

Sonja said: “We just couldn’t let people down. We have loyal customers to whom I will always be grateful to.”

The recent closure of News & Deli at 78 Park Street has left Dundalk without a Ticketmaster outlet.

That is likely to be exposed when tickets go on sale shortly for the highly-anticipated Garth Brooks gigs in Croke Park.

Talk of the Town has confirmed that the country music legend will be in Ireland on Monday to announce a series of Irish gigs as part of his comeback tour.

Tickets for those concerts are set to go on sale a few days later but any Dundalk fans who want them will have to chance getting them online or travel elsewhere to queue for tickets.

While most ticket sales are now online, many people still prefer the traditional method of queuing for tickets. There were large queues at News & Deli a number of times last year when One Direction tickets went on sale and similar demand is expected for the Garth Brooks gig.

The closure of News & Deli, which was run by Sonja van Kelkeren, is another blow to Park Street with nearby Pulse Pacemaker also closing, as exclusively revealed by Talk of the Town last week.
