Four people were arrested after a car was stopped and searched on Hoey’s Lane earlier today.

The search took place close to Dundalk IT.

Gardaí are also investigating an incident in which shots were fired at a house in the nearby Rockfield Manor estate at 3.40am this morning.

This was the second dangerous incident to happen in Rockfield Manor in the last few months.

Back in April a number of residents were evacuated from their homes in the early hours of the morning when an improvised explosive device detonated in the estate.

It is not known at this time whether the two incidents are related.

Shots were fired at a house in the Rockfield Manor area in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí are investigating the incident, which occurred in the estate off Hoey’s Lane, near Dundalk IT, at around 3.40am.

No one was injured in the shooting.

This is the second dangerous incident to happen in Rockfield Manor in the last few months.

Rockfield is predominently occupied by student renters although many of them have now left the area due to the summer break.

Garda appeal for witnesses after shots are fired in Muirhevnamor

Gardaí in Dundalk are appealing for witnesses after two shots were fired in the Muirhevnamor area last night.

The incident happened around 11pm in the Slieve Foy Park area with the Gardaí anxious to speak to anyone who may have heard the shots being fired or who spotted anything suspicious in the area around the time.

No one was injured in the incident, which was only reported around 8am this morning.

A Garda investigation is underway after shot were fired at a house in Knockbridge this evening.

A number of shots were reportedly fired at the house around 7.30pm.

An adult and a child were inside at the time, however no one was injured during the incident.

The Garda Armed Response Unit were quickly on the scene and have preserved the scene pending an examination.

Diversions are in place as a result of the incident, with cars travelling on the R171 from both Dundalk and Louth Village directions unable to access the area in front of Brodigan’s shop, St Mary’s Church and St Mary’s NS.

Traffic coming are being diverted via the N52 Ardee to Dundalk Road before turning off in the direction of Stephenstown Pond.

Man arrested in connection with gun attack on house in Muirhevnamor

A man in his 20s was arrested in Dundalk earlier today in connection with a gun attack at a house in Muirhevnamor on Monday morning.

A number of shots were fired at a house in the estate around 3.45am but thankfully there were no injuries reported.

Sinn Féin councillor Kevin Meenan had called the matter scandalous earlier this week, describing the incident as a “form of Russian roulette.”
