New myDundalk app launched

A new mobile app called myDundalk has been developed for the people of the town as well as visitors to the area.

The aim of the app is to provide relevant, up to date information regarding local shopping, restaurants, DkIT, cinema times, fuel prices, upcoming events, local classifieds and more.

The app provides an opportunity for businesses to promote themselves by having an advanced business listing and banner ads on the app.

It was created by Dundalk IT students Colm Clarke and Lorcan Kearney with further information available at www.mydundalk.ie

Alternatively you can download it now from iOS or Android.

 

H&M coming to the Marshes

Swedish clothing retailer H&M are rumoured to be opening in the Marshes Shopping Centre in the New Year.

Talk of the Town hears that the men and women’s fashion giant is moving into the unit previously occupied by Tom Tailor, which closed prior to Christmas.

That unit, as well as those surrounding it, was the subject of a planning application from the Marshes in recent times to expand it.

H&M recently secured a prominent site in Dublin’s College Green to open up a flagship Irish store there.

Pat Shortt in Dundalk this Friday night

Comedian Pat Shortt will be appearing in An Táin Theatre at the Town Hall in Dundalk this Friday night at 8pm with his new show ‘I Am The Band’.

Tickets for the show are onsale now from the Táin Theatre box office or by calling 042-9392919.

He will also be appearing in the Iontas in Castleblayney on Saturday, with tickets still available by calling 042-9753400.

Tickets are €28 each for both shows.

Byrne’s plan Christmas Customer Appreciation Day

Santa Claus is coming to town

Santa Claus will be arriving at the Marshes Shopping Centre next Saturday, November 30th.

The centre will have a fireworks display to mark his arrival at 5.30pm, followed by the spectacular arrival for Father Christmas himself at 5.45pm.

Children will then be able to meet him in the centre in the build up to the festive season.

New Dundalk-based online clothing store LilyCoo goes live

New local online clothing store LilyCoo has gone live today at www.lilycoo.com.

The new online shop is the brainchild of local woman Oonagh McNally, who will be running the business from the Castle Road with Kevin Quinn.

A wide selection of dresses are now available to buy from the online store with former Miss Universe Ireland Lynn Kelly amongst the models to have modeled the clothes. LilyCoo will also be selling jumpers, tops, shirts, cardigans and coats for women size 8-14.

LilyCoo will stock some of the most popular brands on the market at the minute, such as Closet, Hybrid, Little Mistress, Jolaby, Sugarhill Boutique and many more.

They are also offering free next day delivery on all orders placed before 2pm.

New sweet shop to open in Dundalk

Good news for people with a sweet tooth as Mr Simms’ Olde Sweet Shoppe is set to open in the Long Walk Shopping Centre in the coming weeks.

The shop will sell all your favourite sweets, both past and present, and will be located in the old print shop opposite Michael White’s butchers.

Clarke sisters to host pop up shop clothes sale this weekend

Sisters Sarah, Emma and Ruth Clarke – all daughters of well-known local photographer Paddy Clarke – are hosting a pop up shop in Paddy’s Jocelyn Street studio this Saturday and Sunday.

The three sisters will be selling dress, accessories, shoes, handbags and more, with many of the clothes suitable for those attending any upcoming weddings.

Paddy promoted the event on Facebook as follows: “A question,why is it that when a woman buys a dress for a wedding or dinner they can only wear it once? My daughters Sarah, Emma and Ruth are having a pop up shop to sell off their dresses, accessories, shoes and handbags in our studio in Jocelyn Street on Saturday and Sunday, why not come along. The studio will be open for wedding and portrait chats as well.

The pop up shop is open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 2pm to 5pm on Sunday. Refreshments will be served and the clothes are described as being in great condition and at reasonable prices.
