Dundalk face trip to Athy in Provincial Towns’ Cup

Club-CrestDundalk Rugby Club will face a trip to Kildare to face Athy in the first round of the Provincial Towns’ Cup.

The draw for the competition, which the Mill Road outfit have won 10 times, was made at the weekend by Leinster players Sean O’Brien and Fergus McFadden.

Dundalk will be strong favourites to advance to the next round based on the fact that they play a number of tiers above Athy, who are in Division 2B of the Leinster League.

In contrast, Ene Fa’atau’s side are second in Division 1A at present and the only realistic challengers to pacesetters Wanderers.

The game will be played on the weekend of January 25th 2014.
