Freda Hearty and the Dance Kids have once again exceeded expectations and delighted audiences with their Christmas show ‘Sparkle and Shine’. The talented Dance Kids aged from just four years danced and sang their hearts out last weekend when ‘Sparkle and Shine’ took to An Tàin Theatre stage and brought the house down; with delighted audiences declaring it “the best show yet”.

With two sold out shows, the audience enjoyed an excerpt from the hugely popular ‘Frozen’ as well as many favourites such as Connie Francis, Michael Jackson, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, The Beatles and many Christmas classics such as ‘Santa Clause is Coming to Town’ and ‘Run Run Rudolf’

After five months of hard work and two show-stopping performances from the Dance Kids an exhausted but delighted Freda Hearty said “I am absolutely thrilled with how well the shows turned out, all the kids and the Dance Kids crew worked so hard. Thank you to all the parents and everyone who helped out. I can’t wait for out summer show in June already.”

Preparations are now underway for the Dance Kids annual summer show, which will take place in June. Dance Kids classes take place in Scoil Eoin Baiste on Saturdays with new times from 11:00-12:00 for 4-6years, 12:00–1:00 for 7 year olds, 1:00-2:00 for 8-12 years, 1:30-2:30 for 12years +. New members are always welcome and can register by calling Freda on 042 9339797.

Dance Kids classes are an excellent way for kids to learn many talents in the field of dance, drama and song. They create an excellent opportunity for children to grow in confidence, perform on stage, become active, make friends and most importantly have fun!

Five local schools broken into

St Mary’s College was amongst the schools broken into at the weekend

Five local schools were broken into over the course of three days at the weekend.

The first break-ins occurred when on Saturday when the Redeemer Boys’ School and Scoil Eoin Baiste in Fatima were broken into. Nothing was taken from the Redeemer but a small amount of cash was taken from Scoil Eoin Baiste.

Then on Sunday, St Mary’s College – known locally as the Marist – was broken into after a stone was thrown through a window. While its offices were ransacked, nothing was taken.

Then in the early hours of Monday morning at around 3.20am, the De La Salle secondary school was broken into with glass smashed in doors. Finally the office of the nearby Dun Lughaidh secondary school were broken into around the same time. The offices were ransacked but again nothing was taken.

Gardaí believe the same individual may have been behind the five break-ins and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Dundalk Garda Station.
