Green 5km Run in aid of Alzheimer’s this Saturday

A Green 5km Run in aid of Alzheimer’s will take place this Saturday at 10.30am in Lordship.

The route is a scenic run through the village of Lordship, with the Cooley Mountains and Dundalk Bay visible along the run.

Suitable for all ages, all funds raised will go towards Alzheimer’s – particularly to The Birches Day Care Centre in Dundalk.

Entry is €15 per person, with U-16s €8. All those above the age of 16 will free a Green 5km Run t-shirt. Entry also includes a sponsorship card and post race refreshments.

Prizes will be divided into male and female categories with cash prizes for first, second and third in each category.

Changing and shower facilities will also be available, courtesy of St Patrick’s GFC.

The annual Blackrock Triathlon will take place this Saturday in the village.

The event, which gets underway at 1.15pm, consists of a 750m swim, an 18km cycle and a 6km run.

This year’s event is sponsored by Centra Blackrock and entry is still possible at a price of €30.

Last year’s winner was Brian Campion with an overall time of 00:55:09.
