Boylesports to sponsor RTÉ racing coverage following €1m deal

smr36623_[1]_BoylesportsLocal bookmaker Boylesports has signed a two year deal to sponsor racing coverage on RTÉ – an agreement that is expected to cost them in excess of €1 million.

The betting firm, which has its headquarters at the Finnabair Industrial Estate off the Inner Relief Road, signed up yesterday to sponsor the national broadcaster’s coverage of horse racing across television, radio and online.

“We already sponsor many of Ireland’s most significant racing fixtures but to continue to be successful those fixtures must benefit from broadcast coverage. That is why this partnership is important, not only for RTÉ and Boylesports, but for the future of Irish racing. This deal cements our place as Ireland’s number one bookmaker in terms of monetary contributions towards Irish racing,” according to John Boyle, the chief executive of Boylesports.

Boylesports employs 1,500 in almost 200 shops across the country including stores in Dundalk, Drogheda, Ardee and Dunleer.

“Irish racing remains on terrestrial free-to-air television and Boylesports has secured a powerful association with Irish Racing across all of RTE’s market-leading platforms – RTE Television, RTE Radio and RTE.ie. This partnership is a great endorsement of RTE Sport’s output and their powerful audience reach and we’re delighted to welcome Boylesports on board,” according to Dermot Rigley, commercial manager at RTE Sport.
