Drama at the post office

The pair clash outside the post office

There was drama at the Post Office earlier today when a Roma woman attempted to scare off a local collector from in front of the entrance to the Clanbrassil Street branch.

In a video captured by Darren O’Donagh, the Roma woman is seen pushing over the collector’s desk and then later stamping on it before threatening the local collector with her stool.

You can check out the video for yourself here.

Happy National Fish and Chips Day

National-Fish--Chips-Day-returns

For those who’ve missed it, today is National Fish and Chips Day.

Now, if ever there was an excuse of a holiday then this is it but we’re not complaining though as there’s half price fish and chips on offer in a wide range of local takeaways.

Amongst the restaurants taking part this year include the Roma, the Europa, Kingfisher, Mullens and Tony’s.

So why not treat yourself to a fresh cod and chip this lunchtime or this evening? Unfortunately the models pictured are unlikely to be found in any of the above venues though.

A tourism dream… or are we?

Rosemary Lavery asks an interesting question on Twitter, regarding where you take people in Dundalk who’ve never been there?

Carlingford is always mentioned but what if you’re not able to drive? Can you recommend any places worth seeing?

Surely, there are better options than the Roma and St Helena’s Park.

Perhaps more of a focus should be put on improving the number of tourists coming to Dundalk, although the town’s cause isn’t helped by the fact that it has only one town centre hotel.

Is there enough of an emphasis put on bringing people into the town?
