Sheila Stack wife of the late Chief Officer Brian Stack with the bronze bust after being unveiled at the Prison Service College, Portlaoise by Minister for Justice Equality and Defence Alan Shatter TD
Sinn Féin president and Louth TD Gerry Adams is to meet the family of Brian Stack in Leinster House later today.
Mr Stack was the only prison officer to be murdered in the Republic.
The former Portlaoise Chief Prison Officer was killed by the IRA outside the National Stadium in Dublin in 1983.
Mr Stack’s children are expected to ask Deputy Adams to seek an apology from the IRA, as well as appeal for any information anyone might have on their father’s killing.
