Garda patrol car rammed close to the border

A Garda patrol car was rammed close to the border in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened at Rassan in Hackballscross around 4.15am.

The driver of the car had been pursued by Gardaí from Dundalk after failing to stop for them. After ramming the squad car close to the border, he fled the scene.

No Gardaí were injured during the incident with only minor damage caused to the car.

Speed van rammed outside Dundalk

gosafeA Go Safe speed van was rammed outside Dundalk yesterday.

The incident took place around 3pm on the N53 Dundalk to Castleblayney Road at Rassan, Hackballscross.

A dark coloured Toyota car pulled in at the side of the road in front of the van before driving into the door of the vehicle.

The operator was uninjured in the incident but Gardai are appealing for anyone with information on it to contact them at 1800 666 111.

Pregnant woman hospitalised following crash near the border overnight

A heavily pregnant woman was hospitalised following a single vehicle accident close to the border last night.

The incident happened shortly before 11pm when a 4×4 with four occupants left the Bog Road – just off the N53 on the edge of Rassan, Hackballscross – before careering down a 15 foot embankment.

Thankfully no one was seriously injured but the pregnant woman was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda as a precaution.

Meanwhile, another person was taken to hospital with leg injuries after a car crashed near the Lumper’s Pub in Ravensdale shortly before 11.30pm.

There were three people in the car at the time of the incident, all of whom were foreign nationals who live in Dublin.
