Fine Gael candidate for Dundalk-Carlingford, John McGahon and his campaign team refused the let the wind and rain affect their preparations for May’s local elections on Saturday as they continued their busy canvassing campaign.

John, who plays with Dundalk Rugby Club, said he has been impressed by the very positive reaction he has received on doorsteps since starting his campaign before Christmas and believes he has the youthful enthusiasm to make a real difference for the area if elected.

“It’s great to have the support of so many of my friends who knocked on doors all day despite the weather,” said John.

“I firmly believe that politics in Dundalk and North Louth needs new blood. I have been knocking on doors for six weeks now and the reception has been very positive. People want to see new faces and fresh ideas, especially at local level. We have a very strong Fine Gael team between myself, Colin Goss and Cllr Martin Murnaghan.”

With just under 95 days until polling day, John said: “I have a strong commitment to my native town of Dundalk and North Louth and I want to contribute to its promising future by playing my part as a local representative.”

John also has a campaign office in Seatown and visitors are welcome.
