Hickock’s Absolutely Final Ride in The Spirit Store this Thursday

A production of Hickock’s Absolutely Final Ride will take place in The Spirit Store this Thursday night at 9pm.

The show will feature a range of local actors including Dermot ‘Doc’ Lavery, Stephen Burns, Bernard Dunne, Tony Markey and Sharon Shields, with Anne King the pianist on the night.

Tickets are available from The Spirit Store, Midas in the Long Walk Shopping Centre, McAteer’s Food Hall in Clanbrassil Street or from www.spiritstore.ie with proceeds in aid of Down Syndrome.

Tickets cost €10 if bought in advance or €12 at the door on the night.

Róisín Dooley to host violin recital in Carlingford next month

Violinist Róisín Dooley will host a violin recital, accompanied by pianist Patrick Coyle, in the Carlingford Heritage Centre on Sunday May 11th.

The event gets underway at 3pm with music from Bach, Debussy, Chausson, Sarasate, Szymanowski, Kroll and Gershwin.

Róisín started her studies at the age of six with Teresa McArdle and later with Fr Brendan Mc Nally. From a young age Róisín took part in many music festivals including Feis Ceoil where she won numerous prizes. She was also a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland for several years.

Róisín was selected to represent Ireland at the International Millennium Music Festival in Leeds, England in 2000. Before Róisín commenced her further studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester under Wen Zhou Li, she gave her first solo recital in Carlingford. Four years later Róisín graduated with a BMus Degree.

Since graduating she enjoys performing with Castleward Opera, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the Fr McNally Chamber Orchestra. Before commencing her masters Róisín furthered her studies with Michael D’Arcy.

Róisín was also soloist with the Fr McNally Chamber Orchestra in November 2013.

Róisín is currently in her second year as a MA student in the Cork School of Music, under the tutelage of Ruxandra Petcu-Colan. This is her third and final recital for the above course.

Admission to her show on Sunday May 11th is €15 or €10 with concession.
