LMFM were celebrating at the PPI awards in Kilkenny on Friday night after The Late Lunch Show picked up Magazine Programme of the Year.

The show, which is presented by Gerry Kelly, seen off stiff competition from the Ray D’Arcy Show on Today FM to scoop the prestigious prize.

Presenter Peter Dunne was also runner-up to former Westlife star Nicky Byrne for the Newcomer Award.

The station also picked up a bronze award for Sports Story of the Year for its documentary on Mick Cooke’s axing from Drogheda United, entitled ‘Mick Cooke – The end of the road.’

Well done to all concerned.

LMFM up for four PPI Radio Awards

LMFM LogoA number of local radio shows have been nominated for the PPI Radio Awards 2014.

LMFM’s Peter Dunne has been nominated for the coveted Newcomer Award, alongside the likes of former Westlife star Nicky Byrne, now of 2FM.

Meanwhile, the Drogheda-based station – who celebrated their 25th anniversary yesterday – are nominated for best documentary in the Speech Programming Awards for ‘Far from a Thundering Disgrace – The Paddy Donegan Story’.

The station are also nominated for best sports story for ‘Mick Cooke – The end of the road’.

The Late Lunch with Gerry Kelly has also been nominated for Best Magazine Programme.
