More people have come forward with information on the disappearance of Ciara Breen 17 years ago since a renewed appeal for information on what happened to her was made last month.
Last month gardaí revealed that two people had recently come forward with separate historic sightings of Ciara, who was just 17 when she left her home in Bachelor’s Walk on the night of February 12th 1997.
LMFM reported on their news bulletin this morning that the renewed appeal has encouraged others to come forward, with a TV appeal set to air on Monday night’s Crimecall programme on RTÉ.
Gardaí also revealed to the station that they had also received an anonymous letter about Ciara’s disappearance and insist they are anxious to speak to the person who wrote it in the strictest of confidence.
Last month senior investigating officer Pat Marry told LMFM that it is their belief that Ciara is dead based on the fact that her passport was left behind at her home and that her bank accounts were never touched. However, he said it would be nice to give Ciara’s mum Bernadette peace of mind to know her daughter had been found.
Anyone with information on Ciara’s disappearance is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9335577 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
