The scene of the crash
A multi-vehicle accident has occurred on the Newry Bridge, close to the Lisdoo.
The crash, which took place around 6.30pm outside Bishop’s Texaco Filling Station and Riverside Drive, involved three cars – two Renault Clios and an Opel Corsa.
While damage has been caused to all of the cars, it is not believed that any significant injuries were sustained in the smash.
Gardaí in Dundalk are investigating reports of shots being fired close to the old Newry Bridge last night.
Investigations are on going with Maxwell’s Row – in front of Dixon’s Funeral Home – closed this morning as a result.
A forensic examination is due to be carried out at the scene this morning.

The Garda Armed Response Unit have been spotted around Dundalk for much of this morning.
Reports have now reached us that they have just sped over the Newry Bridge with sirens blaring. There’s obviously some kind of operation underway. We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything more.
