Monaghan County Council are seeking a meeting with delegates from Louth County Council regarding the quality of road from Inniskeen to Louth Village.

Fianna Fáil Councillor in Monaghan Padraig McNally made the proposals to meet with Louth County Council, to initiate a cross-county approach to acquire funding for the upgrading of the road.

Cllr McNally told Northern Sound FM the road is ‘sub-standard’, despite it being used quite extensively for people travelling from Carrickmacross to Dundalk.

He says there are a number of dangerous aspects on the road and that it will take a cross-county initiative for progress to be made.

A new one day music festival called Oriel Live will take place in Oriel Park on Saturday July 6th.

The new event, which will feature three stages, will have over 25 acts performing at it including the likes of Bressie, The Original Rudeboys, Parlour Flames and many more.

The event will replace Fortstock, which had been due to take place in the Vances Estate in Clones, Co Monaghan on the same day.

This has been cancelled, however, due to a licencing issue with Monaghan County Council.

The Oriel Live website will go live tomorrow afternoon at www.oriellive.ie, where further details will be available.
