Paddy O’Rourke was yesterday evening returned as Dundalk IT’s Student Union vice president for a second term.

The Meath GAA goalkeeper reached the quota of 830 on the third count with a poll of 882.

That was enough to see off competition from his nearest challenger, Micky Hamill, who ended with 744 votes on the third and final count.

O’Rourke had taken 566 first preference votes, 36 more than Hamill and also more than Voyo Spanojevic, who had 497 first preference votes. Jack Casey, the fourth entrant to the poll, was first eliminated with just 65 votes.

O’Rourke’s win means there is an unchanged team in the Student Union office for next term, with president Brian Fitzpatrick also returned last week.
