Ciaran Casey RIP

The death has taken place in tragic circumstances of local man Ciaran Casey.

The 37-year-old married father of one was well known in local football circles and for his work as a bus driver for Bus Éireann.

A native of Muirhevnamor, Ciaran played football with Bellurgan Utd and was regularly lining out at centre-half with the peninsula-based side this season.

Indeed, he featured last Sunday in their 2-1 Tully Bookmakers Challenge Cup victory over local rivals Rock Celtic.

In the days afterwards he felt unwell and was taken to hospital. Sadly he passed away there shortly before midday this morning.

Bellurgan Utd matches at all levels have been postponed this weekend as a mark of respect, while a minute’s silence in Ciaran’s honour will be observed at all other local games.

Ciaran is survived by a wide circle of family and friends and sympathy is extended to all who knew him. May he Rest In Peace.

Funeral arrangements will be made later.
