Former Tommy Hilfiger shop in Earl Street to be sold at auction

The former Tommy Hilfiger store in Earl Street will be amongst one of a number of local buildings going under the hammer at the next Allsop auction in the RDS on July 9th.

The building at 7 Earl Street, beside McKenna Man, has a reserve of between €350,000 and €375,000.

It has been closed in recent years with the sale including just the basement and ground floor units.

Also going under the hammer on the day will be an office at 6 Anne Street, which has a reserve of between €90,000 and €110,000 and development land at 39, 41 and 43 Quay Street – beside Brodigan’s Londis store – which has a reserve of €25,000.

The Gallagher Property building in John Street, Ardee, will also be sold on the day for a reserve ranging from €90,000 to €100,000 while Ardee Pharmacy at 1 Ashwalk Mews Ardee, will also go under the hammer for the same reserve range.

A residential auction will also take place the day before with two houses in Aisling Park going under the hammer for €20,000 and €30,000 respectively. 40 Drive One in Muirhevnamor will also be put up for auction on the day for a reserve of €20,000, as will 6 Tallansfield Manor in Tallanstown, which has a reserve not to exceed €140,000.

One of Dundalk town centre’s prime retail units is on the verge of being sold after being marked sale agreed by local auctioneers DNG Duffy recently.

The 8,115sq ft former Tommy Hilfiger store at 7 Earl Street went on the market last year with an asking price of just under €500,000.

Previously owned by PJ McKenna of McKenna Man, it is believed that the unit has been sold to a local investor for below that price.

The store, which includes a ground floor and basement unit, is one of the most prominent in Dundalk and will become the only vacant unit on Earl Street when Dealz opens their new store at the former National Irish Bank branch later this year.

Meanwhile, DNG Duffy are also close to concluding a sale for the office building at 1 Roden Place – a three storey over basement building – which had been on the market for €130,000.

Ireland and Lions rugby star Tommy Bowe will be in Dundalk this Saturday to launch his new footwear collection for Lloyd & Pryce.

The Tommy Bowe signature shoe range has been popular since launching in recent years and the Monaghan native will be in McKenna Man in Earl Street this Saturday to launch his new summer collection.

The Ulster winger will be in store form 4.30pm and all are welcome to attend.

The former Tommy Hilfiger store on Earl Street in Dundalk has gone on the market with local estate agent DNG Duffy within the last week.

The shop at 7 Earl Street closed a year ago after owners McKenna Man – who are based next door – opted to consolidate their business into the one unit.

Built by Knockbridge-based construction company, JP Castle Ltd, less than a decade ago, the building is one of the most eye-catching in the town centre.

It offers retail space of c.4,060sq ft with a total ground floor area of c.4,445sq ft. There is also a basement storage area of c.3,670sq ft.

While no selling price has been revealed for the building, it is understood that it will sell for in the region of €400,000.
