Maxol refused planning permission for off licence at Dublin Road filling station

Maxol have been refused permission to add an off licence to their new filling station on the Dublin Road.

The company applied to Louth County Council in August for planning permission for the development at Southend Service Station, opposite Dundalk IT, but it has been rejected by the local authority.

In April An Bord Pleanála gave the fuel company the go ahead for the filling station, forecourt and shop with Maxol announcing that a €2 million investment would follow, with 25 jobs being created as a result. The filling station opened earlier this month.

Maxol Southend, as it is known, incorporates a Mace store and the company’s new café/deli concept Moreish.

Maxol to open new outlet in Dundalk next week

Maxol will open their latest convenience destination in Dundalk this day next week, Thursday October 8th.

The new filling station will be located at Southend on the Dublin Road, opposite Dundalk IT, and will be the 236th Maxol in Ireland.

The station will feature the company’s award-winning fresh food Moreish concept, which is the Group’s 21st Moreish café to be introduced in the space of just five months. This will include a contemporary seating area, high spec washrooms as well as complimentary Wi-Fi within the Maxol Mace convenience store. A drive-through car wash and pay-at-pump facilities providing diesel 24 hours are also available.

Commenting on the imminent opening of the new service station, Brian Donaldson, Group General Manager, The Maxol Group said: “We’re very excited to announce the opening date for Maxol Dublin Road in Dundalk and look forward to bringing a comprehensive retail and service offering to the local area and to motorists on the go. This is our fifth opening in six months, with more planned, and reflects our significant investment in Ireland over the last 24 months, in terms of new site developments and refits of existing sites.

“The new location at Dublin Road is the perfect fit for our latest new forecourt concept and we look forward to welcoming local students, residents and of course commuters to our latest Maxol convenience destination, situated at the heart of the community in Dundalk.”

In total €2 million has been invested in revamping the former Texaco filling station site, with 25 new jobs set to be created.

Maxol begin recruiting for Dublin Road filling station

Maxol have begun the recruitment process for their soon to be opened filling station on the Dublin Road in Dundalk.

The new Maxol is due to open shortly with 25 full and part-time positions set to be created.

Amongst the positions available are Supervisor/Manager, deli sales assistants and shop sales assistants.

Maxol had hoped to have the station opened last month but it is expected to be completed shortly.

25 new jobs to be created by Maxol opposite Dundalk IT

Maxol is to employ at least 25 people at a new service station at the Southend Service Station, on the Dublin Road opposite Dundalk IT. 

An investment of around €2m will be made in Maxol Southend, which will incorporate a Maxol Mace convenience store within the forecourt and will also see the introduction of Maxol’s new café/deli concept Moreish.

Brian Donaldson, group general manager, the Maxol Group said: “We have been seeking a prime location in Dundalk to add to our three existing Maxol branded stations for some time so when this opportunity at Southend presented itself, it was the perfect fit for our latest new forecourt concept.”

The new service station is due to open in August and will bring the number of Maxol stations in Ireland to 234. 

Over the past 18 months it has been investing heavily in Ireland which has resulted in the opening of 21 new service stations and the rollout out of its new forecourt image to over 150 stations.

In January Maxol announced a new partnership with Dundalk IT as part of the institute’s Global Student Project 2015.

The cross college collaboration project will see DKIT students join forces with students from universities in USA and Australia to develop a new mobile app for Moreish, Maxol’s new convenience food and café brand.

Using digital communication facilities and on-line project management software, the teams of students will work together to design the Moreish café app for Maxol. Students will test the app among the student and staff base at DKIT, with the intention to expand its use across the 30 Moreish deli cafés that are expected to be open by the end of 2015. Potential built-in features of the app will include; food ordering, delivery, payment and a loyalty programme.
