Louth County Council’s machinery yard in Dundalk will not be closing, the local authority has confirmed.

Fianna Fáil councillors Declan Breathnach and Conor Keelan sought clarification on the future of the Ardee Road yard at last night’s meeting of the Dundalk Municipal District Committee in the Town Hall after hearing at a seminar in Tullamore that it was to close.

However, the councillors were told by officials that this was not the case with the only change being that the contract to maintain the plant machinery had gone to public tender.
