Louth hurlers to face GMIT in Kehoe Cup

Louth crestLouth hurlers have been drawn at home to GMIT in the opening round of the Kehoe Cup.

The fixture will take place on January 19th and will be the hurlers’ first outing of 2014.

Meanwhile, a replay will be required to decide this year’s Lennon Cup winners after Ardee Community School and St Mary’s College proved inseperable in last night’s final in Darver.

The game finished 1-10 to 2-7 after extra-time, with the Marist doing superbly well to fight their way back into the game after being seven points down at half-time.

Scoil Uí Mhuirí Dunleer did manage to claim the Lennon Shield, however, after beating St Joseph’s CBS Drogheda by 3-6 to 2-8.

Lennon Cup final this Friday

This year’s Lennon Cup and Lennon Shield finals will take place this Friday night in Darver.

The Lennon Cup is the biggest competition in secondary school GAA in the county, with many county stars having won the coveted prize in the past.

Ardee Community School and St Mary’s College, Dundalk will contest this year’s Lennon Cup final with throw-in for the game at 7.15pm.

Ardee Community School will be hoping to retain the title they won 12 months ago when they beat St Mary’s Diocesan School by 4-11 to 0-7.

Also on Friday is the Lennon Shield final between Scoil Uí Mhuiri in Dunleer and St Joseph’s CBS, Drogheda. That game will also take place in Darver, with a 7pm throw-in.
