RTÉ’s Operation Transformation got underway this week with Dunleer man Mark McArdle a leader.

The 44-year-old – who weighs 21st 11.5lbs – works locally with Intact Software and to mark his involvement in the show, they have vowed to sponsor him every bit of the way.

The company have vowed that for each 1lb Mark loses over the course of eight weeks, they will donate €150 to Mark’s chosen charity of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (up to a maximum of €5,000).

For those who have seen Mark on TV this week and want to wish him well they can meet him at the ‘Know Your Numbers’ event in Dundalk tomorrow (Saturday). It takes place in Leavy’s Chemist in the Long Walk Shopping Centre from 10am to 12 noon and will give people the chance to get their weight and waist measurements taken free of charge.

You can follow Mark’s progress here.
