Higgins signs on for another season with Dundalk FC

DundalkCrest2010Dundalk FC have announced that midfielder Ruaidhrí Higgins has committed himself to the club for next season.

The Derry man featured 40 times for the Lilywhites last season, helping Stephen Kenny’s side to a league and EA Sports Cup double.

The 12th member of last season’s squad to sign on for 2015, Higgins picked up his first league winner’s medal after coming off the bench early on in the final day victory over Cork City at Oriel Park back in October.

The 30-year-old told dundalkfc.com that retaining the title was now the main aim.

“I have won a few League Cups, a couple of FAI Cups too but the league was the one I wanted and I finally got it. I had to wait 10 years for it but I was especially delighted to do it with such a great group of lads. They have made me feel very, very welcome from day one – the staff and the board as well have been brilliant. The players, the staff, the supporters and the board have all really pulled together and we ended up one step better winning the league but we want to keep it now,” he said.
