Dundalk has a new world champion after local kickboxer Catherine Brady claimed gold at the WKC Championships in Italy last week.
Catherine, a previous world champion in 2001, 2009 and 2011, beat Italy’s Cristiana Farin in the final of the women’s point fighting under 50kg event.
Well done to Catherine, who hails from Pearse Park and is a member of the Kobra Kan Kickboxing Club.
A Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event will be held this Saturday May 4th in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Soul of the Warrior IV together with Dundalk Thai Boxing Club will host ‘Pride and Glory’, an event which will feature six Muay Thai and 8 MMA fights on a card that features a host of local fights.

Doors open on Saturday at 7pm, with the first fight at 8pm.
