Louth hurlers open league campaign today

Louth crestLouth hurlers will begin their Allianz National Hurling League Division 3A campaign against Roscommon in Darver this afternoon.

The team was selected on Friday night and is as follows: James Connolly; Paddy McCormack, John Carter, Andrew McCrave; Conor Kerrigan, Cian Hayes, Cathal Ryan; Jason Condon, Shane Callan; Andrew Mackin Gary Rellis, Darren O’Hanrahan; David Kettle, Diarmuid Murphy, Gerard Smyth.

New manager Diarmuid McCarthy will be looking to claim his first win since taking charge. Roscommon have already beaten Louth this season in the Kehoe Shield but the Wee County will be hoping for a better display this evening.

Throw-in at Darver is at 2pm.

Louth hurlers still awaiting first victory of the year after Roscommon defeat

Louth crestLouth hurlers are still waiting on their first win of 2014 after going down to Roscommon on a 2-13 to 2-5 scoreline in the Kehoe Shield in Darver yesterday.

The Wee County will be disappointed with their performance have raced into a commanding early lead only to score just the one point on the restart.

The home side scored 2-3 in the early stages with goals coming from Oisin Drumm and Gavin Kane.

However, Roscommon knuckled down with a series of points from Gerry Fallon and a goal from Tomás Seale to leave it 2-4 to 1-4 at the break.

A second goal from Cathal Kelly shortly after the restart brought Roscommon level before Fallon added to his hefty tally to help the visitors to an easy win.
