Former Dundalk player Ross Gaynor has this afternoon been released by Sligo Rovers.
The Ardee native joined the Bit O Red in 2012 from the Lilywhites and went on to win a league title, an FAI Cup and a Setanta Cup during his spell at the Showgrounds.
He featured in over 91 games for Sligo during his three year spell in the North West, scoring three goals.
Gaynor featured at left back in Sligo’s Setanta Cup final victory over Dundalk back in May but he has not been retained by new manager John Gorman.
Explaining the decision, Gorman said: “We’ve decided to go down a different route and with a different style of play.
“We thank Ross for his efforts while I’ve been here and in the previous seasons. We go forward and wish him all the best.”
A former Irish underage international, Gaynor will be hoping to secure a new club before turning 27 in September.
