Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny is a 50/1 outsider to succeed Giovanni Trapattoni as Ireland manager following his sacking today.
While ‘King Kenny’ is far from the bookies’ favourite for the role, he is the best-priced League of Ireland manager with bookmakers Paddy Power – a testament of the good work he has done at Oriel Park this season.
Also in the 50/1 category are the likes of Guus Hiddink, Jean Tigana, Sam Allardyce, Gerard Houllier and Kevin Keegan.
Another ex-Dundalk manager, Jim Gannon, is also seen as a 66/1 outsider with ex Lilywhite footballer Paul Doolin 80/1.
Martin O’Neill (4/5), Mick McCarthy (7/1), Brian McDermott (12/1), Roy Keane (16/1) and Chris Hughton (16/1) are the frontrunners for the job.
