A search of Carlingford was stood down last night after being revealed as a hoax
A rescue mission was launched after reports that a person jumped off the south pier around 8.50pm.
The Irish Coastguard boat and the rescue helicopter from Dublin were involved in the search, along with the Kilkeel lifeboat.
The Irish Coastguard helicopter carried out a full sweep of the Lough and nothing was found, with the incident now widely believed to be a hoax.
