Hill Street bridge closed off due to accident

An accident has resulted in the closure of Hill Street bridge.

The road has been blocked off by Gardaí to allow ambulance personnel to deal with the incident, which occurred shortly before 4pm. Gardaí describing are it as “serious” and asking people to avoid the area if at all possible.

The road is blocked off from the entrance to Hughes’ Park to the junction at the top of the Long Avenue.

Diversions are in place via the Inner Relief Road and Avenue Road.

Update: The road reopened around 5.15pm.

Dublin Road residents face water disruption tonight

A number of areas around Dundalk may suffer disruption to their water supplies tonight due to essential maintenance works being carried out by Irish Water.

The works are due to be carried out from 11pm to 6am and could effect the following areas:

Dublin Road, Mullaharlin Road, Mullaharlin Park, Langfield, Hoey’s Lane, Muirhevna, Priorland Grove, Mourne View, Ladywell, Hughes Park, Line Terrace and Hill Street.

Supply disruption is also a possibility up until November 31st.
