An Oaklands Park man has been rumbled for dumping household refuse in Upper Faughart.

David Tunti Montia dumped a load of household waste on the side of the road, including dirty nappies, empty cans and bottles and general waste.

However, he was rumbled when a local man came across the waste and discovered an unpaid parking fine letter amongst it.

He has now passed it on to the litter warden.

The issue of illegal dumping at the Racecourse Road in Dundalk continues to grow, according to local residents.

The problem has been ongoing for some time but came to public prominence just after Christmas when huge amounts of household waste was illegaly discarded there over the festive period.

In January, Louth County Council gave a commitment to erect a barrier at the end of the road in a bid to cut down on dumping here but as yet it has not happened.

One local woman told Talk of the Town: “The level of illegal dumping is rising despite the council’s promise of a gate.”
