Brubakers win canopy appeal ahead of BruFest event this weekend

Peaken Properties Ltd, who run Brubakers, recently won an appeal to An Bord Pleanála against Louth County Council’s decision to refuse them planning permission for a new retractable canopy projection to the front of the pub at 39 Park Street.

The council had refused planning for the canopy back in April but An Bord Pleanála found that it would “not seriously injure the amenities of the area.”

They further added that “the proposed canopy is of reasonable modest scale, of a satisfactory traditional design style and could be visually assimilated into the existing streetscape without undue injury to the visual amenities of the area.”

One of the conditions applied, however, was that no advertising signs or symbols be attached to the canopy.

This weekend Brubakers will host their inaugural indoor festival BruFest with artists including Paddy Casey, Hamsandwich and The Original Rudeboys performing.

Tickets are still available from the venue or via www.ticketstop.ie
