Dundalk pair receive Ireland call-ups

DundalkCrest2010Two Dundalk FC players have been called into the Irish underage setup.

Forward Sean Maguire, a recent recruit to Stephen Kenny’s side, has been named in Noel King’s Ireland U-21 squad ahead of a friendly against Qatar U-23s in Bury on Friday night and the UEFA U-21 Championships Qualifying Round Group 2 fixture away to Andorra on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, George Poynton has been named in Paul Doolin’s Ireland U-19 panel for Monday’s friendly away to Italy in Cava de’ Tirreni.

Dundalk to ring the changes for trip to Derry

DundalkCrest2010Dundalk FC travel to the Brandywell tonight to take on Derry City in the EA Sports Cup quarter-finals.

Stephen Kenny has already admitted that he will change things up with a number of youth players set to come into the fray. They are likely to include Ciaran O’Connor, Manuel Kaguako, Ciaran McDonald and George Poynton, who all featured in the 3-0 victory over Bray Wanderers in the previous round.

Also set to come into the side are a number of players who have been on the fringes of the first team in recent weeks, including Mark Rossiter, Simon Kelly, Mark Griffin, Ruaidhrí Higgins and goalkeeper Gabriel Sava.

Kick-off tonight is at 7.45pm.
