Following last month’s 15-6 victory over the South Kildare Soldiers in the IAFL-2, the Dundalk Mavericks take to the field again this weekend to face the Tyrone Titans.
It will be the first ever home game for the Mavericks as they hope to build on a solid start to their campaign. Their opponents also won their first game last weekend, defeating the Galway Warriors in a 36-0 rout and look to provide a stern test for coach Sarah Matthews’ team.
The Mavericks will hope to build on the strong special team’s performance shown in their first game which resulted in touchdowns for Ruairi MacArtain and Guntis Vitolins. It appears that the key to success will be stopping Tyrone quarterback Daniel Mullan who threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns against Galway in addition to 110 rushing yards.
The game kicks off at 12.30pm on Sunday at the DKIT Sports Grounds and admission is free. Why not bring the whole family down to cheer on your local team in one of Ireland’s fastest growing sports?
With the possibility of road restrictions in the area due to the Giro d’Italia, the Mavericks would advise all spectators to enter the DKIT grounds at the Inner Relief Road entrance beside the Crowne Plaza.
